I Just Want a Campus Psychology Degree Program

If you prefer face-to-face interaction and don’t like working from home consider a traditional campus degree. Find out the questions to ask when choosing your psychology degree program and school.

Are you interested in campus psychology degree programs? Do you prefer working in a traditional classroom, going to class at set and specific times, interacting with your classmates in real time and face-to-face? Are you technologically challenged, don’t like the idea of working alone, hate studying at home and not motivated or disciplined to get yourself to log into class? Is so, a campus psychology program may be a better fit for you. Not all students like the online program design. It’s really best to try out both models and chose the one you are most successful in. It’s your education – do what’s best for you.

How to Find Campus Psychology Degree Programs?

Did you know that most accredited online degree schools have a campus program as well. Additionally, most campus based schools have some online courses/programs. This makes it really easy to experiment and try out both modes of learning. Don’t assume you will hate one or the other ahead of time. Try out both and then evaluate your performance. Pursue the type of learning environment that has lead to your success and the one you have enjoyed the most.

When choosing campus psychology degree programs it is best to request information from a number of schools. Start with 3-4 schools since there is no need in getting overwhelmed.

Evaluate each school, the programs it offers, the course of study, curriculum, program mission and goals. Look at faculty qualifications – see if there are any faculty members that interest you or focus on areas of research you may want to pursue.

Obtain exit information from the school regarding their most recent graduates. Ask the school adviser or admissions counselor how many students compete the program you are considering, as well as any information regarding common career paths of program graduates.

When you narrow your school choice, contact some current students and ask specific questions regarding the program. You will be surprised how willing students are to share their experience and impressions regarding their education and degree program. Consider asking current students what they particularly like regarding the program, what they dislike and if they would recommend the program to someone else. Ask about available support, student to teacher ration, faculty availability and collaboration with students.

Please invest time researching schools and degree programs. While it would be nice for someone to hand you a list of schools and say :”Try these” we both know this will not happen. Its better this way because we all have our individual needs and desires. Only you can make a good decision about your education, you know the type of learner you are better than anyone.

Committing to several years of study is no small task – take your time and weigh your options. And remember, if you are dead set on a campus degree program, try out an online course. You may be pleasantly surprised!
